Summary:

Ernest Albert Thürkauf was born in 1907 in Leistal, Switzerland. His father, Emil Thürkauf, emigrated in 1913 and settled in Entwistle, Alberta. His family followed in 1915. They moved to Oregon in 1923 and to New York in 1931. Ernest lived in many places throughout the United States. He fought in World War II. He married Florence and they had three children, Ernest, Amelia and Barbara. The family used the name Thurston from 1929 to 1978.
