Biography/History:
Arriving in Cleveland from New York in 1918, Kazimieras S. Karpavičius was the editor of Dirva, a weekly newspaper published by the Ohio Lithuanian Publishing Company. Dirva had been established in 1915 by A.B. Bartoszewicz and had a large circulation in Pennsylvania, Michigan and Connecticut, places that did not have their own Lithuanian presses. The paper politically independent but was focued on keeping older Lithuanians current on national movements. (per The Lithuanians of Cleveland, by Charles Wellesley Coulter, 1920).
