Summary:
Hubi (Yaakov Buchman Eilam, 1937-1967), whose letters are collected in this file, fell in the Six Day War in Jerusalem, and was only thirty years old. For his bravery in battle he was awarded the exemplary decoration. At the time of his fall, he had a bachelor's degree in philosophy, an outstanding student at the Faculty of Medicine in Jerusalem, and the father of a four-year-old son. His letters, especially those from the years of his studies at the educational institution in Mishmar Ha'Emek, reveal to us a personal, intimate, detailed and authentic diary, sometimes quite poetic, of an adolescent boy whose interests span the world. From a young age he developed a most impressive love and knowledge of classical music and a deep interest in philosophy, political thinkers, literature, plays, the history of the art of painting and knowledge of the land. Hovi was a gifted oboe and accordion player and an outstanding athlete in athletics, basketball and wrestling. A spirit of volunteering, a personal example, contribution to society and love of the country, these are the charitable qualities that characterize Hovi's special and interesting personality. --- online translation

-- Back cover
