- ספרו של שניר מורדוך מציע קריאה פרשנית צמודה בחמש יצירות ("מזוודה על השלג", "לליה", "המינגווי וגשם הציפורים המתות", "ויקטור ומאשה" ו"ליקוי ירח") שנכתבו בעברית על ידי סופרים יוצאי ברית המועצות אשר עלו לישראל במסגרת העלייה הגדולה של שנות 70 - אולה (אולגה) גרויסמן, מרינה גרוסלרנר, בוריס זיידמן ואלונה קמחי. קריאה זו בוחנת את האופן שבו משתקפים ביצירות אלה היבטים שונים של הספרות הישראלית מבחינת הנושאים, הז'אנרים, הסגנון הלשוני והספרותי של היצירות, לצד בחינת סוגי הנרטיב של המחבר ושל הגיבורים, סוגיית עיצוב ממד הזמן והמרחב ביצירות, היחסים בין הבית והחוץ, האני והאחר, היחיד והחברה, נקודות התצפית של הגיבורים ותחושת הזרות שלהם כלפי הסביבה שבה הם חיים. היצירות נבחנות הן ביחס לנקודת התצפית הכפולה, הדו-לשוניות, המשקפת זהות עצמית כפולה וביקורתיות ביחס לישראלי, והן ביחס לשאלה האם גיבורי היצירות חשו מידה מסוימת של בושה בשל המסורת הרוסית שהם סוחבים על גבם, ואם כן - האם ייתכן שהסופר המהגר, העולה יוצא ברית המועצות, הוא למעשה ישראלי יותר מהצבר הישראלי. - Back cover.
