- The first protest was drawn up and signed by 33 minority members of the House of Lords Mar. 11, 1766, following the passage of the repeal on its second reading; and pub. under title "Protest against the bill to repeal the American Stamp Act." At the third reading, Mar. 17, the bill for repeal was finally passed, this second protest being introduced by Lord Temple and signed by 28 peers.
