Summary:
Collection contains general and bird's-eye views of the campus and buildings of Chestnut Hill College. Prominent among the scenes are interior and exterior scenes of the dorms, classrooms, the infirmary and paths and walkways. Also depicted is the Grotto Garden. Other Philadelphia views include East Falls, Fairmount Park, the Pennsylvania German Protestant Home for the Aged, Jeanes Hospital, the Mary Drexel Home, and the Philadelphia Home for Incurables. Churches depicted include the Christ Church yard and St. Paul's Presbyterian Church. Also depicted are the Benedict Club (a USO, NCCS club), interior and exterior views of the Mayfair Hotel, the University of Pennsylvania and an interior view of the Cecilian Academy. Reproductions of works by Donald Beetem are shown as well as residences designed by Philadlephia architect C.E. Schermerhorn in Ambler, Bethlehem, Fox Chase, Philadelphia and other locales. The mining operations of the Reading Coal and Iron Company and exteriors of that company's building are shown as well as the Courier Post Building, the Free Library, City Hall and various unidentified buildings.
