Biography/History:
A lecture dealing with the subject of V14 was presented by F.H. Shelton at a meeting of the Mechanical and Engineering section on 14 March 1918. The lecture was reprinted from the Journal of The Franklin Institute, February, 1919 and was entitled "Windmills, Picturesque and Historic: The Motors of the Past." There are twenty duplicate images in the lecture notes.
Summary:
Views of various types of windmills from the U.S. and abroad. Collection includes models and plans for windmills. Included in the collection are windmills from Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Long Island, New York and Michigan. Examples from abroad include windmills from Canada, Holland, England, France, Belgium, Italy, Peru, Spain, Hungary, Turkey and Barbados. Most scenes include landscape or waterscape views.
