"India ink drawing on parchment, upright oval, 4 x 3 1/8. There are three inscriptions in ink: along the bottom margin--'Govr Keith'; along the left hand margin--'John Watson, del.'; along the right hand margin--'Presented to the Historical Society of Pennsylvania by W.A. Whitehead, 1856.' The last inscription is in the handwriting of W.A. Whitehead, and the other two may also be by him, though not necessarity so. Inscribed on back: 'Sir William Keith.' The subject is shown nearly half-lenth, standing, to right. He wears a long bobwig, and is dressed in armor, with white neckcloth and jobot. An ermine cloak is thrown over his left shoulder and arm, and reappears behind his right shoulder."[Paintings & Miniatures at the HSP, p. 141]
