- Excerpt from introduction: "In the section east of Ninth Street there is still much to be seen. This section, furthermore, may be reached very conveniently by street car, bus and high speed lines from every section of Philadelphia, and from Camden. (You will find a map of transportation lines on the last page.) Our tour, as planned, starts and ends near Eighth and Market Streets, which is reached by subway and elevated lines from West Philadelphia, North Philadelphia, Frankford or Camden. You may prefer, however, to make a number of visits, starting and stopping at any point that is convenient, for although the route we follow is less than four miles in length, you will not want to hurry through the many places of interest you will see. We suggest, therefore, that you save this guide for use whenever you have an hour or more in which to explore Old Philadelphia."
