Summary:
Contains a series of coloring books and story books designed to instruct students at the elementary school level in the language and culture of the Assinboine and Gros Ventre Indians. The coloring books include: Assiniboine Language Coloring Book, 36 pages, and Gros Ventre Language Coloring Book, 37 pages, both of which are bilingual with English and Assiniboine-Gros Ventre Heritage Coloring Book, a 19 page book which is multilingual with English, Assiniboin and Atsina languages.
Notes:
The story books which are all in English, recount legends of the Assiniboine and Gros Ventre people. The story books produced under the project include: Nee Hot & The Bear Women, 15 pages, Nee Hot & The Mouse's Eyes, 11 pages, The Mouse and Her Children, 20 pages, and The Quarrel Between the Prairie Chicken & the Jack Rabbit, 2 pages. Also includes The Buffalo & Its Uses a 4 page outline of the relationship of the buffalo to all phases of Indian life.
