HSP is the home of the John Fryer papers. This collection was used as the inspiration for playwright Ain Gordon to create a piece about Fryer, the gay psychiatrist who insitgated the removal of homosexuality as being listed as a mental illness in the APA's lexicon. The play was first performed way-way off-off Broadway (i.e. in Philadelphia); it is now simpy Off-Broadway (in NYC).
