- This volume consists of early 18th to mid 19th century documents created by several generations of a group of prominent interrelated families who owned estates on the Delaware River in Tacony in Northeast Philadelphia in Pennsylvania. The Papers--including correspondence, financial and business records, wills, deeds, legal papers, and other materials--reveal the personal and business dealings of these families, documenting activities that took place on their Tacony estates, elsewhere in and around Philadelphia, in other parts of the United States, and in other countries. All items in the collection are described in detail, and many are transcribed, either in whole or in part. --Adapted from the foreword.
