- Summary:
- In his thesis, Refining Metadata for Genre Archives: A Case Study of Travel Archives, Leroy J. Arnold begins with the construct that there is something that may be termed genre archives and that travel archives form a part of this larger category. They share both rich research potential and inadequate access. Researchers attempting to access genre archives are often stymied by insufficient metadata. They frequently overlook collections because a processing archivist may not have described those collections in a way which would have benefited their research. He makes clear the value of travel archives, providing suggestions for enhancing their access and proposing that similar remedies may benefit other genre collections.
