- The Magdalen Society of Philadelphia was founded in 1800 for the purpose of locating prostitutes, providing them with housing, religious and vocational training, and finding them work in the community when reform was judged to be complete. The collection includes minutes of annual meetings of the board of managers, minutes of the weekly visitation committee, diaries, records of admissions and releases, registers, and matrons' books. Original records are held by the Historical Society of Pennsylvania. Register available.
