Summary:

John and William Bartram were naturalists, both of whom undertook extensive botanizing expeditions to the Carolinas, Georgia, and Florida. John, in particular, corresponded with prominent scientists and political figures in Europe and America. In 1765 John Bartram was appointed Botanist to King George III.
