Summary:
The feature-length video documentary tells the story of this historic black community on the outskirts of Philadelphia from its earliest roots in the late 1700s, through the black migration in the 1920s to the redevelopment movement of the late 1950s--1980s and its impact on the community today. This story of community displacement, the loss of cultural landmarks and increasing political marginalization echoes the history of hundreds of urban and rural black communities throughout the U.S. and celebrates the resilience of the African American spirit--From author's website.
