- A middle-aged woman with a very flat affect reports her friends brought her to the emergency department. She answers in a concrete, non-elaborative manner. She becomes guarded, exhibiting paranoid, hostile thinking, suggesting the interviewer should know what she is talking about. Her symptoms are suggestive of schizophrenia and more history should be obtained.
