- In this trauma assessment, Jennifer discusses her childhood and her brother’s struggle with substance abuse. In starting to retell her story, Jennifer begins with her father leaving her family and its implications: financial difficulties, a move to a new home, and her mother forced to work long hours. Today, Jennifer does not have a relationship with her father or her brother whom she hasn’t heard from in years. Though things have been difficult for Jennifer recently, she feels she has a strong relationship with her husband who supports and cares for her.
