Summary:
This is a letter written to David Berlin on Thursday, 12 Elul 5529 (14 September 1769) by Natan-Noṭe ben David of Ożarów (writing from Gdańsk /Danzig) describing current woes with his family; his wife (Leah bat Mejte) and son (Avraham Ḥayim) were imprisoned for unspecified reasons (מחמת גלגולי סיבות; eighth line), and he had heard a rumor that David Berlin would be soon traveling to Berlin and beseeches him to inquire on behalf of their release. The tone and language of the letter (including the address on document dorse) imply that Natan-Noṭe ben David did not know David Berlin prior to this correspondence.
