- Summary:
- This is a manuscript surviving on a former free-end of a printed book inscribed to Yaakov Katz, the Dayan and rabbi in Altona (1808-1906; the position he held was likely Klausrabbiner, serving under Jacob Ettlinger and afterward Elieser Löb; he was also an importer of kosher wines; see Eduard Duckesz, Hakhme A.H.U. (Hamburg, 1905), page 150-1) and gifted to him by a student, Meshulam (ben Mosheh) Korth קאהרט), Kort) from Fürth. First inscription written in three lines (likely in a different hand); verses by Korth in honor of the recipient below in six lines with a signature below ("K" stamped in blue adjacent to Korth's signature, likely using a rubber stamp). Written in an Ashkenazic semicursive script (main gift inscription) and an Ashkenazic cursive script (additional gift inscription at top). Item mounted on blue paper.
