- "Instituted in 1821, the Society was to run for nearly 175 years until being wound up in 1995. The purpose of the Society was the loan of blankets to poorer households during winter. Detailed here in the brochure are the Society seven point rules listing all from the annual society subscription; rules for issuing of tickets to receive blankets, the arrangements for delivery of blankets, to the allotted time to keep blankets (November to June). The Society administration is listed with the accounts for 1865-66; details of some 180 subscribers and three donors."--Vendor's description.
