- Two printed receipts, filled out in ms. for Mr C. Byass, for 6 months subscription to P[atience] Lawless Circulating Library. One dated in ms. for 6th May to 6th November, 1849, and the other 6th November, to 5 May, 1850.

- "Circulating libraries ran by women were unusual in the period and Mrs Lawless's appears to have run successfully from the 1840s to at least the mid- 1880's, assisted by her son, Edward, who signed the receipts offered here. Mrs Lawless died in 1874 and it would have probably been Edward who continued the business."--Vendor's description.
