- Summary:
- Vito Acconci lays claim to his own space in an art gallery basement for a 1971 performance art exhibition originally 3 hours long. His body postures and repetitive sentences prove intriguing or repellent; spectators decide whether to invade or avoid his space, thereby becoming participants in the exhibition. Acconci attempts to fight off anyone who descends a staircase while he sits blindfolded at the bottom. He maintains a running monologue to psych himself up for any violence necessary to maintain his solitary location.
