In reading Mr. Edwards on the Freedom of the Will, several observations occurred to the author, which he communicated, in conversation, to some of his friends. They were pleased to say, that they thought them pertinent and just: And they requested the author to pay more attention to the subject, with the idea of his publishing strictures upon the whole book. The study of Metaphysics has fallen into disrespect among many men of sense and learning. But I apprehend, that Metaphysics may be made a very useful and profitable study, if we do but keep ourselves within the bounds, and confine ourselves to those limits, which are ordained and established by the Deity.
