Summary:
Drawing on data from the Census Bureau, this resource profiles 782 places with the highest concentration of Hispanic/Latino populations, including 23 ethnic backgrounds and statistics on 26 topics (11 added to this edition), including sex, age, household size, school enrollment, educational attainment, unemployment, homeownership, income, language spoken, jobs, rent, and poverty. It also uses charts to compare and rank all states, counties, and places by these topics. Data is arranged alphabetically by state, then place, and each state is represented by at least five incorporated municipalities, cities, census designated places, or minor civil divisions. An introductory section includes a summary and national numbers, 23 maps, the top congressional districts by Latino share of the populations, and historic information on the US population and individual states from 1980 to 2010. Four maps (one for each ethnic background) are also new. Access to an online companion website with 10 more topics is included. Annotation ©2013 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
