Summary:
This is a unique project aimed at the professional computer graphics, animation and visual effects marketplace. The goal of the book is to present in glossary/dictionary format, definitions and introductions to the vocabulary of contemporary visual effects created with digital technology. Computer graphics and animation professionals are truly a "service" occupation in many fields which rely on digital technologies to create visual effectsz For example, film makers, in their efforts to film a story, rely on computer generated effects to enhance the visual impact of their films. The film maker must work closely with the Visual Effects Supervisor and the Digital Effects team to decide what is possible and how that what will be implemented. The terms defined in this book are the basis for those important discussions. The impact of digital technology on the visual mediums (advertising, film, tv, news, sports, art, ) is expanding rapidly based on extremely complex technical specifications and requirements involving hardware, software and theoretical advances. In such a complex world there is no standard sources for providing definitional knowledge so that the Digital Effects specialist (computer graphics and animation professional) and the Producers, Directors, Studio Executives and Traditional Special Effects Experts can understand each other. Armed with the definitions of Visual Effects in a Digital World, specialists will have a common sources of definitions that will be relied on to facilitate the future evolution of visual effects in the digital world.
