- Summary:
- "In this training video, Dr. Carol Tosone presents two clinical social work vignettes, based on actual mandated cases, that illustrate common scenarios in working with resistant clients. First, you'll watch first-year social work student Jennifer meet her very first client, Alice, an agitated 44-year-old pregnant woman with an unstable home life and multiple psychiatric diagnoses. The second vignette follows Kim, a second-year social work student who is meeting with her first adolescent client, Anthony, a silent 15-year-old high school student and graffiti artist who has been living with his aunt since his mother's arrest. In both cases, Dr. Tosone advises her students about countertransference and meeting a client where they are, with strong results. By watching this video, you will become aware of your countertransference reactions and how they may impact your sessions; learn ways to engage resistant clients including starting where the client is and respecting his or her defenses and right to self determination; and be able to decipher a client's nonverbal communication and distinguish between manifest and latent content of a client's communication. Intended for students and practitioners in clinical psychology, counseling, social work, and related health professions." Supplied by publisher.
