Summary:
In this simple and elegant narrative, Dr. Jeffrey Brown demonstrates that the nature of our particular language profoundly influences the way that we think. His subject is the Chinese culture, and the influence of the Chinese language on the structure of Chinese thought. During the course of this book, as the author travels abroad, studies Chinese and visits with various individuals, he learns that "science" is only one way of thinking, and that it has its roots in Western languages. The unique organization of the Chinese language forms the psychological basis for thinking in Chinese.
