Summary:
This book examines the Hamparsum musical notation, which had great importance in the recording and dissemination of the Turkish music repertoire before the active use of Western musical notation, in the context of the annotated translation of the book Elements of Music by Yeghia M. Dindesyan. The musical notation, which was put forward by Hamparsum Limonciyan in the first quarter of the 19th century with a new understanding inspired by the Khaz script in order to preserve Armenian church music, was later adopted by Turkish music advocates. The Armenian church music tradition and the Turkish music environment expressed their own musical nuances in the context of the musical notation in question. In his book, which is the subject of our study, Dindesyan compared the nuances of these two sides with the perspective of the Western musical notation system under the title of Hamparsum musical notation.
