Summary:
This anthology deals with Beuys on the occasion of his 100th birthday in 2021. The articles provide insight into his life and work in a variety of ways: First of all, of course, the 7000 oak trees, each with basalt steles, which were planted in the Kassel city area. ?City forestation instead of city administration?: Despite a storm of protests, Beuys planted the first tree on March 16, 1982. In addition to the beginnings of the ?7000 Oaks Campaign? as an artistic contribution to documenta 7, a current planting campaign in Chicago will also be presented, which will re-stage the work of art there. Other topics in the book are: ?Where is Joseph Beuys? A Conspiracy Theory?, Me and Beuys - Episodes; CONTEXT, PLACE, PROVOCATION AND RESISTANCE: Opinion on the purchase of a Beuys work or Beuys in Italy. Especially the economically less developed southern Italy, the Mezzogiorno, was an important source of inspiration for the artist with its originality, culture and history. In critical reflection, the social reality of this region became fruitful for his artistic work. Throughout his life he felt a close intellectual and emotional bond with the people living here. or the ?pack? are discussed.
