Summary:
Based on an the anthropological research "The owners of the Land" that addresses historical and recent episodes of the struggle of the Tupinambá da Serra do Padeiro, in southern Bahia, for the recovery of the ancestral territories from which they were expelled by the advance of colonization which continues to this day. Between mobilizations and resumptions, operations of the Federal Police and paramilitary actions, arrests of leaders and past and present violence of local authorities, this comic reveals aspects of the memory, worldview and culture of a people who, guided by the wisdom of ancestors and enchanted, and united by strong community ties, resists the territorial esbulho and the symbolic battle that denies its indigenous origin and its constitutional rights. The seven narratives in this book open a window through which it is possible to begin to meet a people who do not lower their heads and, every day, build possibilities for a more equal world.
