- A summary of findings reveal the following. There are over 30,000 individually unmanaged vacant lots under one acre in the city's residential neighborhoods. At least 15 different city agencies have a role in managing vacant lots. The city currently spends $1.8 million annually to clean and maintain these lots. With a twenty year investment, the city can solve the problem while generating millions in benefits over the same period. If nothing is done, the city will continue to sink millions into a vacant lot program, without reversing the problem.
