- Summary:
- Yemenite High Holiday Maḥzor, with some additions; content covers Seliḥot (called Ashmorot in this manuscript), Rosh ha-Shanah, and Yom Kippur prayers. The Hatarat Nedarim (annulment of vows before a assembly of three, a custom practiced on the eve of Rosh ha-Shanah; f. 20r-22r) contains additional text taken from Shaʻare Tsiyon (by Nathan Nata Hannover) for the Nezifah (declarative self-torment for sins committed) and an additional paragraph called אתה הבדלת אנוש מראש (including mystical statements: "...ופגמתי בארבע מאות עולמות שקל כסף וגרמתי להלביש שמים שק ונתתי כח לעשו וארבע מאות איש עמו..."; f. 20v). The service for the blowing of the Shofar shows instructional lineforms for the blasts ("תשרת תשת תרת"; f. 63r); the liturgy of Yom Kippur is out of order (possibly indicating variant rites which would select portions of the liturgy; the note following the piyut on the final folio indicates this was intended by the scribe), including the ʻAvodah service (in the Yemeni rite, with Ibn Gabirol's ארוממך חזקי וחלקי (f. 78v) and the anonymous אתה כוננת עולם מראש (f. 79v). Written in a Yemenite semicursive script, vocalized, in a scribal hand; captions written in a Yemenite square script; instructions written in minuscules; catchwords, each followed by a pen flourish; sections with designs and overlining above captions. Bound in modern blind-tooled faux-leather.
