Summary:
Correspondence regarding the publication and censorship of Benjamin Franklin's "Moral Life Plan" in Cuba. The first manuscript letter stamped "Iglesia Parroquial de Trinidad," dated 1866 July 2, from the parish priest of Trinidad, Cuba (Francisco Leza y Cenzano) to the Bishop of Cuba (Jacinto Maria Martínez y Sáez) was sent along with a copy of the periodical "El Imparcial" no. 107, in which was published an article titled "Plan moral de vida por Benjamin Franklin." In the letter Leza argues that the article contains errors on religious grounds, and that this publication has been censured by the Catholic Church in the past. This is followed by correspondence from Salvador Negre, dated 1866 July 24, detailing an argument for censorship of the article and the Bishop's approval, dated 1866 July 31.
