Summary:
"Aftter the civil war, the city experienced very difficult times, but from 1950 it re-emerged with strong industrial and demographic growth. The town grew from 229,334 inhabitants to 410,490 in 1970. The housing alternatives for these new Bilbao residents were to share a rented flat or build their own house in the mountains that surround the botxo. In what was known as the Tin Belt, more than 7,000 shacks were built. Without sanitation, running water, electricity, or the most elementary comforts, thousands of people begin an adventure that would change the future of future generations"-- Translation of publisher's provided description
