un abismo encendido de miradas-an abyss ignited with glances for soprano or counter tenor, flute, cello, violinand percussion. This piece is based on "Pien d'amoroso affetto" by Giulio Caccini (1546-1618) in the performance by Alfred Deller. I worked with a meticulous understanding of the particularities of his performance in order to develop extended instrumental techniques connected with particular expressive needs. The piece is focusing on a reflection concerning musical language and different types of connection with poetic expression. It engaged with early western music and its spirituality and sense of poetic melancholy _sometimes also of joy_ viewed from a contemporary perspective. Commissioned by Ceibo International Composer Meeting. This work won The International Casa de las Américas - House of America 2015 Prize (Cuba). www.patriciamartinez.com.ar
