- Rippling describes the motion of water waves in ocean which are constant and incessant, yet always undergoing various transformations in terms of shape, speed, amplitude, and even energy. The music delineates into three-part structures in which the first and last sections are characterized by diatonic-oriented minimalistic texture, however, the central contrasting section features chromatic-oriented multilayers that generate substantial dissonant tone colors. During the course of the piece, prominent melodic figures are sustained constantly by alto clarinet as well as contra-bass and contra-alto clarinets while interweaving with repetitive materials at other registers.
