- Histoire sans paroles (« story without words ») for violin, cello and piano, was commissioned by the Australian collective The Firm for Settembrini Trio, that premiered it in Adelaide in September 2002. The first part of the work, essentially rhythmic, is based on rhythms sometimes used by Australian Aboriginal didgeridoo players at ritual dances. The second part, slow and static, evokes the immensity of bush landscapes crushed by sun and heat.
