- Notes:
- Colours are like memories of other colours (on Schubert's D545, Der Jüngling und der Tod) This is the first in a series of works for instrumental ensemble in which an audio recording is played back in part, then 'frozen' abruptly, creating a static 'drone' which serves as a point-of-departure for the ensemble. The recordings used are extracts of works from classical-repertoire, chosen for the sentimental significance they hold for me. My reasons for choosing this particular lied are unimportant; I am simply attempting to illustrate both the non-linear manner in which the memory recalls works of music, and the potential for sounds to trigger memories of other sounds, places, emotions and sensations.
