- As those by Schumann and Sibelius, my Humoresques propose a bittersweet, ambiguous atmosphere: a melancholic initial melody, shared between fluteand piano, metamorphoses through contrasted episodes in hammered tearings to dissolve into silence. My little ìCapricesî are a collection of short works written for wind and piano, presenting the traditional configuration of the "solo" putting forward the virtuosity of a soloist. This virtuosity is based, in a traditional way, both on the swiftness of numerous passages and on the variety and precision of articulation and nuances ñ as well as on the capacity of building a dramatic line through contrasted episodes. More singular is the writing of the pianoand the relationship between both instruments: the pianois presented as a monodic instrument equal to the wind instrument. The traditional relationship solo-accompaniment is thus rethought by the counterpoint of lines resulting from this approach. The accent is put on the whim with which the free development of a musical figure is varied throughout the piece. None systematism then, none ambitious research other than that of the pleasure of playing and listening.
