Notes:
Corrupio is the name of some children's games related to rotatory motion. In some regions of Brazil it consists of one string with a button that produces sound from the rotary motion of the hands and the tension of the string. This work for solo piano, is an attempt to create a kind of musical toy inspired by the corrupio. The piece is based on the definition of melodic cycles that change gradually. Each reiteration involves distinct musical parameters settling loops or musical spins that mobilize multiple levels of composition. Gestures and affects related to rotary motion are connected and this piece moves a bit like a sort of berceuse, alternating compositional procedures current with echoes of music coming from other times.
