- Notes:
- This orchestral work, REGENERATION, was inspired by my encounter with Toshio Yamamura's art work, Mahoroba (Old Japanese for 'Great Place'), in Oya, Japan. The site that houses this art work is a vast, dark underground quarry. Mahoroba consists of several large identical lozenge posts that are stood, some vertically and others slantingly in rainwater that has seeped in from outside of this subterranean space. These objects and the undergound space are surrounded by a mystic, unearthly primitive atmosphere. To me Mahoroba seemed like a vestige of ancient human beings; their world generated withthe collapse of the former world.
