Notes:
Narrative Is Fugitive Narrative Is Fugitive is a duo for any two treble clef instruments, it was commissioned by the Protean Duo. The piece considers the shifting functional nature of operational systems with regard to the positional perspective of an actor in that system. The score presents a combination of conventional and invented notation in a semi-open form context. There is a beginning middle and end to the piece but open repeat signs and two instances of quasi-improvisational material allow for multiple paths through the interior of the composition. The notation throughout is mostly familiar Western notation with layers of invented or extended notation written on top. The meaning of the invented notation is left A4 - US Letter, asking the performers to find their own unique answers to questions of interpretation.
