- Notes:
- Galaxia Espiral (2005), for ensemble of fifteen instruments, is the continuation of a series of pieces with spatialization starting with Cometas (2004). The instruments of the ensemble are arranged along a large S both on the stage and in its surroundings. The idea to use this set-up came up from the observation of photographs of spiral galaxies. What I did was to project the image of a spiral galaxy on the physical space of the stage and its surroundings. This was the first piece in which I structurally included microtonal colors. I composed it while shut up in a room at the Conservatoire de Paris with two pianos overlapping with a quarter tone difference in tuning. The piece was performed in 2005 by Franck Ollu and the Orchestra of the Conservatoire de Paris. The recorded version you can listen to here was directed by Rut Schereiner (Orchestra of the Conservatoire de Paris) and is a 2006 version which includes some corrections. The piece won the first prize at the Competition Juan Carlos Paz of the National Arts Fund of Argentina and the Joan Guinjoan International Composition Competition, Barcelona, 2006.
