It is our great pleasure to welcome you to the 2021 ACM Special Interest Group on Information Technology Education - SIGITE 2021. Over the years, these SIGITE annual conferences have provided an ideal forum for meeting colleagues, sharing and learning new ideas, and finding ways to strengthen our IT programs around the country and abroad. We are confident you will find this 2021 conference equally fulfilling, and we're excited to have you here. The global pandemic that has been with us for over a year has dramatically influenced our IT Education community. It has emphasized the importance of IT in sustaining society and prompted many of us to develop and hone new approaches to teaching. This year's theme of "Empowering IT Education" points toward the new opportunities that await us as we learn to teach IT more effectively in a challenging context, as well as the renewed commitment to building the IT workforce that is helping maintain the infrastructure so critical to sustaining our society.
