Summary:
"The 29th Olympics was held in Beijing, China in 2008. 'The Everlasting Flame: Beijing Olympics 2008', produced by China Central Newsreel and Documentary Film Studio (CND), not only shares the hidden stories of the close preparation of the opening of the games, but also shares the untold stories of athletes from across the world. These athletic stories are shared and the film goes deeper into the passions, struggles, and lives of athletes as they prepare for what is known as the 'truly exceptional Games'. Commissioned by the International Olympic Committee, the Olympic Official Film has been appointed to each Olympic organizing city to document the competitions, athletes, coaches, and the thousands of other memorable moments. 'The Everlasting Flame - Beijing 2008' will be the 22nd official film of Olympic history. Gu Jun of CND was chosen to direct this film. She has previously directed the award-winning 'Dream Weavers - Beijing 2008', a documentary about the 7 years of preparation for the Beijing Olympics. The film crew spent more than a year planning, researching, coordinating, and pre-filming. Finally in March of 2008, as the Olympic torch was lit, the film crew travelled to 10 different countries across the world, filming and documenting the Olympian's preparations. For a year, athletes were carefully researched and interviewed. Featured athletes in the film include: China's superstar athlete Liu Xiang and the Chinese Gymnastics Team, Jamaica's 100m sensations Usain Bolt and Asafa Powell, American Taekwondo phenomenon Steven Lopez, American BMX Rider Kyle Bennett, Ethiopian legendary marathoner Haile Gebrselassie, the first female to represent Iran in Taekwondo Sara Kosh Jamal, and Germany's canoeist Tomasz Wylenzik. These individuals together represent different societies, setting aside their political and cultural differences to bring together the 2008 Olympic slogan: 'One World, One Dream'."--Container.
