Summary:
The beloved James Levine makes his very last appearance as Met Music Director conducting an opera he long championed, Die Entführung aus dem Serail, by one of his favorite composers, Mozart. Hans-Peter König is the blustery Osmin, overseer of Pasha Selim's harem, which includes two European women captured by pirates. One of them is Konstanze (Albina Shagimuratova), who lets the Pasha know in no uncertain terms that she would rather die than yield to him. Fortunately, her true love, Belmonte (Paul Appleby), has arrived to rescue her, but the escape is not without complications. With Kathleen Kim as Konstanze's servant (and fellow captive) Blondchen and Brenton Ryan as Belmonte's servant Pedrillo.
Contents:
Overture
Konstanze, Konstanze ... O wie ängstlich, o wie feurig
Singt dem großen Bassa Lieder ... Immer noch traurig
Dialogue: Immer noch traurig, geliebte Konstanze?
Ach ich liebte, war so glücklich
Dialogue: Ihr Schmerz, ihre Tränen
Marsch, marsch, marsch!
Dialogue: Das steht mir nicht an!
Durch Zärtlichkeit und Schmeicheln
Dialogue: Zärtlichkeit! Schmeicheln!
Ich gehe, doch rate ich dir
Welcher Wechsel herrscht in meiner Seele
Traurigkeit ward mir zum Lose
Nun, Konstanze
Martern aller Arten
Doch du bist enschlossen
Dialogue: Träume ich? ... Bst, Bst, Blondchen!
Welche Wonne, welche Lust ... Ah, dass es schon vorbei wäre!
Frisch zum Kampfe!
Dialogue: Ja, ja, ja ... Geht's hier so lustig zu?
Vivat Bacchus! Bacchus Lebe!
Dialogue: Wahrhaftig es geht doch nichts über den Wein!
Wenn der Freude Tränen fließen
Ach Belmonte! ach mein Leben!
Wenn unsrer Ehre wegen die Männer Argwohn hegen
Ich baue ganz auf deine Stärke
In Mohrenland gefangen war
Dialogue: Konstanze!
O, wie will ich triumphieren
Dialogue: Was gibt's, Osmin?
Welch ein Geschick o Qual der Seele!
Ich will alles gerne leiden
Dialogue: Nun, zitterst du?
Nie werd ich deine Huld verkennen ... Bassa Selim lebe lange.
