- Soprano Renata Tebaldi heads a cast of legendary Verdi singers in this dramatic and passionate performance. She stars as Leonora, the aristocratic Spanish woman who plans to elope with her true love, only to have her life shattered. The great tenor Richard Tucker is Alvaro, Leonora's beloved, whose actions cause the death of her father and set in motion the tragic twists of fate that come to haunt the lovers. Mario Sereni sings Carlo, Leonora's brother, who is obsessed with avenging his father. Jerome Hines and Mignon Dunn co-star as the compassionate Padre Guardiano and the feisty Gypsy Preziosilla. Thomas Schippers is on the podium.
