Summary:
The 2018-19 season marks the 50th anniversary of the Met debut of Plácido Domingo, one of the most beloved artists in the company's history. Domingo first appeared on the Met stage as Maurizio in Adriana Lecouvreur and went on to a career spanning 51 roles (and counting)--from the youthful leads of Tosca, Faust, and Cavalleria Rusticana to the romantic heroes of Andrea Chénier, Carmen, and Samson et Dalila. Domingo also thrilled audiences with performances of opera's more mature leading men, including the title roles of Parsifal and Otello, Hermann in The Queen of Spades, and Verdi baritone characters like Germont in La Traviata, Miller in Luisa Miller, and the titular Simon Boccanegra. With nearly 700 performances to his credit, Domingo has staked his claim as a true Met legend.
