- Summary:
- Documentary filmmaking finds itself constrained by the dictates of television, chiefly the "universal clock". This straitjacket imposes theme and running-time restrictions to meet the demands of the global market. This current reality is on view at the annual MIP-TV in Cannes, the international television market where industry strategists define standards, negotiate deals and adjust their famous clock. The rebel resisting this uniformity is Peter Watkins.
